Visiting Grandma

Gaiana is very excited! Her Mama And Papa are going to bring her on her first outing – to another planet to visit her granny. This is also the first time little Gaiana is going to meet her granny, whom she has never met since her birth because Granny lives far away on another planet.

On the day of the trip, Gaiana puts on her favorite dress and Mama plaits her long hair into two neat pleats. Gaiana loves her hair in pleats. She says it makes her look pretty!

They travel in Papa’s starship affectionately named “Gaiana’s Star”. Gaiana loves that name! She knows how much her Papa and Mama love her to name their starship after her. So off they go on their first trip, and 3-year-old Gaiana is already counting down to their arrival!

After what seems like an eternity and countless “Are we there yet?” from somewhat impatient Gaiana, the starship lands just outside Granny’s house. Granny is delighted to meet her youngest grandchild. Gaiana’s older cousins are there too. Gaiana is a little shy at first but in no time, she is having a whale of a time playing hide-and-seek with her cousins around Granny’s big garden house. It’s super exciting because there are so many trees and bushes to hide. Gaiana even finds a cute little creature that looks like a squirrel hiding behind one of the bushes, and begs her Mama to let her keep it as a pet.

Time really flies when you are enjoying yourself. Gaiana spends three days with her Granny baking cookies and playing with her cousins. They even go exploring around the planet with Papa and Mama. When it’s time to go home, Gaiana is so sad that she clings on to Granny and refuses to budge. Mama Noblelight promises Gaiana they will visit Granny again, and even allows her to bring home the pet squirrel.

Gaiana reluctantly bids her Granny goodbye and together with her Papa and Mama, step into the starship and make their journey home. From this visit to Granny’s home, Gaiana learns about kinship and the special bond between a grandchild and her grandmother. And what’s more, she has brought home a special pet as her companion and playmate.

Christmas Is Jesus

As Christmas approaches, when shopping malls are competing to be the  ‘Best Decorated Mall’ and people are rushing to buy presents or that perfect dress for the party, let’s not forget some in our midst who may not be celebrating the cheer and joy for one reason or another.

Those who are going through a difficult time and find it hard to rejoice this festive season, take heart that Jesus knows. And He cares. Every tear we shed is precious in His sight because He loves us.

As a mother, it is my prayer that my child will learn that Christmas is really about the love of God for us that He sent His beloved Son to the earth to redeem our sins and give us salvation. I hope she realizes that Christmas isn’t just about giving and receiving presents, or feasting and partying. It is about selfless, unconditional love; about being grateful for the grace and mercy we received upon the birth and sacrifice of Jesus. I hope she knows – Christmas is really about Jesus.
